Jennifer L. Shoda
Since 1999, Jennifer Shoda has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide variety of complex tort and insurance coverage litigation. Her practice has focused on third party liability and first party property damage insurance coverage, business torts, patent infringement, third party subpoenas, and antitrust issues. Jennifer has represented clients in both state and federal courts on the trial and appellate levels. Jennifer's clients have included individuals, local Bay Area businesses, as well as diverse Fortune 500 companies dealing with technology, ticketing solutions, and consumer products.
Jennifer has long been active in numerous different community services. In her pro bono practice, Jennifer has provided legal advice to illegal aliens seeking political asylum, and represented a low-income housing non-profit organization in a construction defect dispute. Since 2000, she has coached Mission High School's mock trial team to great success and has long been a volunteer and is currently a board member of the Embarcadero YMCA. Jennifer has also served her local legal community: she has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Bar Association of San Francisco; she currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Barristers Club of the Bar Association of San Francisco; she has acted as her law firm's California Minority Counsel Program representative; she has served as co-chair of the Minority Bar Coalition; she has served on the Bar Association of San Francisco's Diversity Task Force; she is co-chair of the Law Academy Mentoring Committee of the Barristers Club; and she is a member of the Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area.
Jennifer received her Bachelor of Arts from Duke University in 1994 and her J.D. from Whittier Law School in 1997. Prior to joining SMO, Jennifer was an associate at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison and Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in San Francisco. Jennifer lives in San Francisco with her daughter Natasha, and is an avid soccer player and Duke basketball fan.
